A moving train has crushed a Lagos State Government staff bus with registration no 04A- 48LA was on Wednesday morning at PWD, Ikeja area of Lagos.
Confirming the occurrence of the accident, the Director, Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, Adebayo Taofiq, in a statement said:
“The accident recorded many casualties as the staff bus is fully loaded with govt staff going to the office this morning.”
According to reports, bodies all of staff of the State Government were found dead and several injured evacuated.
It was also revealed that the State Government staff bus was trying to cross the PWD/Sogunle rail crossing while the train coming into Lagos from Abeokuta trapped the bus on its rail.
Sources also said LASEMA, NEMA, Police, FRSC, CIVIL DEFENCE, Nigeria Railway Corporation team and NRC flag Officers were reportedly attempted to stop the driver of the bus from crossing but he ignored the directive and drove across the rail.
