Afrobeat musician, Seun Kuti, in the early hours of Monday turned himself in at the Lagos State Police Command Headquarters, Ikeja, in company of his lawyer and family representative.
He has been placed under arrest. Police handcuff him immediately as his case is transferred to Criminal Investigation Department.
The Inspector General of Police had ordered the immediate arrest of Kuti after the video in which he assaulted a police officer went viral.
Sources said that Seun Kuti had on Monday presented himself to the Lagos State Commissioner of Police alongside his lawyer, the human rights lawyer, Mr. Femi Falana (SAN).
However there is no sign that Afrobeat singer, Seun Kuti is whowing any remorse for publicly assaulting a police officer in a viral video released a few days ago.
The son of the late Afrobeat legend, Fela Anikulapo Kuti bragged in a new video via his instagram page that he had slapped several police officers and nothing happened to him.
In the new video, the singer says “Some of una police go slap una, una go come Instagram to explain. You know how many police I don tear slap?” he asked in pidgin.
