Chidimma Adetshina Emerges 2024 Miss Universe Nigeria

Chidimma Adetshina who represented Taraba State has emerged the 2024 Miss Universe Nigeria.

At the grand finale of the beauty pageant held at Eko Hotel and Suites on Saturday night, Adetshina defeated 24 other contestants to clinch the coveted crown.

With this award, she will be representing Nigeria at the Miss Universe in Mexico. Adetshina withdrew from Miss South Africa a few weeks ago due to identity issue.

Her victory also earned her N10 million, according to the organisers.

Also declared winners at the event were Miss Anambra as the first runner-up also known as Miss Supranational and Miss Ondo, the second runner-up known as Miss Lush.

Earlier in the night, Miss Abuja and Miss Anambra had one special pitch award, tagged, “Social Impact Award”.

Also Miss Rivers, Miss Kwara also won special awards. Miss Oyo won Top model award of the night while Miss Imo won Best Costume of the night. Miss Abuja also won Best Talent of Award.

In the top 10 were Miss Kwara, Edo, Taraba, Anambra, Ogun, Plateau, Lagos, Rivers, Ekiti and Ondo.

The best five were Taraba, Rivers, Edo, Ondo and Anambra. However, Taraba who was among the first three with the highest votes emerged the new Miss Universe Nigeria by the judges scorecards.

Speaking after she was crowned the winner, Adetshina thanked the organisers, saying her new status would spur him to unite Africa together.

Adetshina who was visibly emotional said, “I’m highly excited and this is a opportunity for me to unite Africa together. I feel amazing and this is a call to action for Africa unity.”

In his remarks, the President of Silverbird Group, Mr. Guy Murray-Bruce commended the efforts of the judges while also thanking all the sponsors who made the event a memorable one.

Present at the occasion is the Minister of Culture and Creative Economy, Hannatu Musawa said she was so proud of the contestants for their exhibition of Nigerian and African culture to the world.

“This is fantastic as it showcase the beauty of our country and Africa at large,” she said.
