A face off has taken place between British professional boxer, Anthony Joshua and Cameroonian and French professional mixed martial artist and professional boxer, Francis Ngannou for the first time at a press conference in London.
This comes after the announcement of their fight on March 8, in Saudi Arabia. In the face off, both Joshua and Ngannou sized each other up for the first time.
Going memory lane, Ngannou last October triggered surprises in the boxing world after his stunning debut against British Professional boxer, Tyson Fury became the talk of the town.
Regardless of Ngannou’s loss to fury, he dropped the heavyweight champion and only lost by one point in a controversial decision.
This time, the UFC star has taken a bold step to pick up his first boxing win against ‘AJ’, who has won three consecutive fights last year, against Jermaine Franklin, Robert Helenius and Otto Wallin.
To close out Riyadh season, the pair came forth at a launch press conference in London to promote their heavyweight crossover fight, as Joshua decides to put his quest to become a three-time heavyweight champion on hold.
Joshua while making comments in the press conference revealed that every fight leads to somewhere, so this fight is my everything, my soul, my spirit, my mind, my body.”
He said, “We’ll see where it leads me but at the moment, I’m not thinking about championship belts or anything other than Francis. We’re putting the belts on hold; I’m searching for greatness.
“He brings two arms, a body, like every other fighter does. It’s just his mind that’s different but in terms of his frame, he’s seen people like me before and I’ve seen people like him before. It’s going to be good; it’s going to be explosive but there are many ways to skin a cat,” he added.
Joshua in the past has lost his heavyweight belts to Oleksandr Usyk and failed to win them back in their rematch.
Interestingly, the winner between AJ and Ngannou will face the winner between Fury and Usyk after their fight which is just over a month.
