Napoli 0 – Roma 2: Osimhen Sees Red In Serie A

Napoli on Saturday night suffered a 2-0 defeat against Roma, in a match that Victor Osimhen and his teammate, Matteo Politano got one red card each.

The highly competitive match later turned out to be a very tough one for Napoli after the 24-year-old Nigerian forward, was sent off after committing two fouls.

Unfortunately, Napoli’s  Matteo Politano, had already been sent off earlier in the tense encounter, leading to a total of 11 yellow cards as both clubs’ coaches were also booked for their protestations.

During the first half, Roma’s manager, Jose Mourinho, also had a confrontation with Osimhen. Mourinho accused him of simulation in an attempt to win a penalty.

Interestingly, Mourinho ended the altercation with a kiss on the cheek of the 24-year-old Nigerian.

Osimhen reacted to the referee’s decision to send him off after first yellow card came in the 75th minute, and the second arrived in the 87th minute.

This makes it his second red card during his tenure with the club.

Lorenzo Pellegrini had earlier put Roma in the lead in the 76th minute while Roma’s striker, Romelu Lukaku, scored the second goal for Roma.

With 27 points from 17 matches, Napoli sits on the seventh place in the Serie A table,  while Roma sits above Napoli in the standings.
