Six talented female footballers have been selected from the just concluded maiden edition of 2023 Osebaba Cup, Ondo Women Football Competition which was on Saturday and Sunday, August at the Sports Complex of Adeyemi College of Education in Ondo State.
According to the organisers, there was a plan to select (3) girls, but due to discovery of multiple talented female footballers, the Six(6) girls were selected to be taken to the Youth Games, trials at the Nigerian Women Premier League (NWPL) clubs and trials in Europe and Asia.
The club side category was won by Casmog FC and AFUED girls came 2nd. The secondary school category was won by St. James Grammar School while Independent Grammar School came 2nd.
It was a competition characterised by interesting and scintillating moments coupled with a display of modern football from the talented girls.
On Saturday, the first day of the competition, dignitaries such as the host, International Coach Akinboni Osebaba Benson, former Super Falcons football stars: Vera Okolo, Lilian Ezeabasili, Rita Nwadike and fans who came watch and cheer their favourite teams were present as the preliminary matches were played.
The competition which was organised by Makinz Sports Promotions Ltd to promote the good works of Hon. Abiola Makinde MHR. in Ondo State, met the yearnings of sports enthusiasts and fans, PNEWS reports.
Cash, Jerseys, Hose, Medals, Trophies, Certificate and Individual Awards were given out by the CEO of Makinz Sports Promotions Ltd: Akinboni K. Benson (Osebaba).
The guests on day of the competition were: Hon. Commissioner of Sports: Hon. Dele Adeogun/ Ondo FA Chairman, Bobby Akinbobola, Ondo West LG Vice Chairman, Hon. Akintunde John Folajimi, Ex-Nigerian Internationals and Ex-Super Falcons players: Vera Okolo, Rita Nwandike and Amarachi Lilian, AFUED PHE DEPARTMENT lecturers; Dr. R.O. Oloyede, Dr. Adelusi, Dr. S.M. Raji and AFUED Director of Sports, Coach Ajewole.
