Osimhen Makes History, Leads Napoli To Scudetto Title

Super Eagles striker, Victor Osimhen has made history to be the highest scoring African player in Italian Serie A and second Nigerian to win Italian Series A league title on Thursday.

Former Super Eagles forward, Kanu Nwankwo was the first Nigerian to achieve such feat with Inter Milan in 1999, while he broke Samuel Eto’o record for the Most Goals scored by an African in a single season with 23 goals as against Eto’o’s 22 goals in a single season.

Osimhen scored the decisive goal in the second half as Napoli came back from trailing to Sandi Lovric’s opener at half-time powering Napoli to win a Serie A title after 33 years.

So far, Osimhen has put up a scintillating performance for the club this season and has instrumental to Napoli’s historic achievement

At the moment, he has been tagged one of the most sought-after strikers in European and the world.

However, Osimhen’s  career in Napoli can’t be narrated without his Injury, which slowed down the 24-year-old striker’s scoring rate but between returning from a thigh injury in mid-October and the recent round of African Cup of Nations qualifiers last month, he returned to his scoring form.

He came back, scoring 23 times in 23 matches in all competitions, helped Napoli win the title after scoring the decisive goal.
