Manchester City on Tuesday started their Champions League quarter finals journey with a 3-0 win over Bayern Munich at Etihad Stadium.
Fantastic goals from Rodri, Bernardo Silva and Erling Haaland each separated the sides.
Beyond the win for City, talented footballer, Bernardo Silva made great impact in the match. He made eight tackles against Bayern Munich, in addition to his goal and assist.
It has been recorded that no player has achieved the same tally in a Champions League knockout game in the last three seasons.
Above all, City boss Pep Guardiola, expressed his thoughts concerning the win. He was obviously understandably, was impressed.
In reaction to the win, he said, “I’ve been lucky to coach some very good players for Barca and Bayern and he’s one of the best players I ever trained in my life, ever, he’s something special as a football player,” the City boss said in his news conference after the game.
Man City’s Rodri was also put up an impressive performance in the match. He was the first Man City player to score, 27 minutes after kick off at the Etihad.
It was also his first goal in the Champions League
Speaking to BT Sport Rodri said, “It is a great result for us but also the way the team played,”.
The key for me today was the defensive side, it was great, and we understood how to punish them.
“It was very special for me to score my first goal in the Champions League. At that moment we were struggling because they are a great, great team.
“Sometimes we understand we cannot have 80% possession. They play too. We scored three and could score four but it is a great result.
“We don’t think it is done. They are a good team and we are happy with the performance but we will have to try to win the game.”
City at the moment will be taking this win as an advantage into the return leg with Bayern Munich.
