The Majestic Crowning Of King Charles III

The official crowning of King Charles III in the first coronation in Britain since 1953 was an awesome moment to remember because of the activities that made up the prestigious ceremony which was held on Saturday, May 6  at Westminster Abbey in London.

Taking a closer look at the activities that made the ceremony standout, one would definitely beam his or her searchlight on the arrival of notable guests and dignitaries in their regalia, and the awesome outlook and outfit.

According to AFP, at 12:02 pm, the Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby placed the solid gold St Edward’s Crown on Charles’s head as a sacred and ancient symbol of the monarch’s authority.

Some notable dignitaries at the event were Justin and Sophie Trudeau, the prime minister of Canada — which is a commonwealth nation — attended with his wife.

Emmanuel and Brigitte Macron, the French president and his wife were also present for the ceremony, Emma Thompson and Greg Wise, the Oscar winner and her husband were in the audience at Westminster Abbey.

The ceremony continued with Cries of “God Save the King” rang out from the 2,300-strong congregation at Westminster Abbey and trumpet fanfares sounded at the climax of the solemn religious confirmation of his accession.

The ceremony became more interesting when  shape ( Outside, ceremonial gun salutes blasted out across land and sea while bells pealed in celebration at churches across the country.

The build-up to the Christian ceremony of prayer and praise — steeped in 1,000 years of British history and tradition, with sumptuous robes and priceless regalia — has been mostly celebratory.

Sources revealed that London’s Metropolitan Police has some 11,500 officers on the streets in one of its biggest ever security operations. It has warned that it has an “extremely low threshold” for protests.

As well as being the first coronation in 70 years, it was the first of a king since 1937. It was only the second to be televised and the first in colour and streamed online.

Renowned singer, Lionel Richie, Jill Biden French president, Emmanuel Macron, Canadian Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau and actress Emma Thompson, who was made a dame in 2018 for her services to drama and others were all present at the ceremony Charles, 74, was officially crowned king.

Interestingly, monarch’s coronation was considerably smaller than the 1953 ceremony where his mother, the late Queen Elizabeth II, was crowned, with the palace sending only 2,000 invitations to his, compared to 8,000 for hers.
