Chelsea Breaks Record For Most Sackings In A Season

The English Premier League has made history, as the football league with the most sackings in a single season.

Many coaches have been hired and fired in one of the most popular league, but the recent sack of former Chelsea coach Graham Potter unleased the record.

Interestingly, Potter who spent just six months at the Stamford Bridge, was tipped to be the man that will bring Chelsea back to what it is known for, especially its winning ways.

With the promise of managing one of the most lucrative teams in world soccer, the club’s new ownership group, led by American businessman Todd Boehly, had enticed Potter away from Brighton.

However, Chelsea had a plan to bring positive change to the club, after spending more than $600 million to attract big-name players to the club.

As for Potter, one of the most exciting young managers in the Premier League, his duty was to mould these stars into a winning machine.

Unfortunately, the whole plan was put on hold on Sunday, after the club announced that it had sacked its manager.

Based on his performance, Potter won just 10 of the 28 league matches this season and leaving the team 11th in the Premier League table.

As for the fans, many of them had lost confidence that Potter’s plan for the club could ever work, moreso, players had looked a shadow of their former selves in recent weeks.

In response to the situation, the club’s co-owners Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali in a statement said,  “On behalf of everyone at the club, we want to thank Graham sincerely for his contribution to Chelsea.”
