Joshua Beats Jermaine Franklin By Unanimous Decision

Professional boxer, Anthony Joshua has defeated Jermaine Franklin by unanimous decision at London’s O2 Arena on Saturday, in an heavyweight encounter against the American.

The win for Joshua is no doubt positive but ended in a unanimous decision over Franklin after the judges scored it 118-111, 117-111, 117-111 in favour of the former two-time world champion who fought without a belt on the line for the first time since 2015.

Going memory lane, it could be recalled that the 33-year-old challenged his opponent having lost three of his previous five contests, which included consecutive losses to Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk.

During the encounter, Joshua used his left jabs effectively against 29-year-old Franklin several times with his powerful right but the American stood firm.

In reaction to he victory, Joshua said: “I try and provide for the fans. I know who they want. They said Tyson Fury; the ball is in his court. I would be honoured to fight for the WBC Heavyweight Championship of the World.

“If he’s listening, he knows my promoter; we’ve had dialogue before, so let’s continue this. We ain’t getting any younger.”
