U20 AFCON: Two Flying Eagles Stars Make Team Of The Tournament

Despite finishing in the 3rd position, Nigeria’s Flying Eagles Stars still have two players in the Team Of The Tournament released by the Confederation of African Football( CAF).

The Nigerian side bounced back to winning ways on Friday to beat the Young Carthage Eagles of Tunisia 4-0 to claim a bronze medal.

According to the team of the tournament released by CAF two Nigerian full-backs Augustine Njoku and Solomon Agbalaka made the list.

Champions Senegal produced 4 players, Gambia and Congo have 2 players each while Uganda produced one player.

Senegal’s coach Malick Daf was adjudged the best coach of the tournament.

Meanwhile, The Flying Eagles of Nigeria claimed the Fair Play award at the end of proceedings at the 2023 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations.

Captain Daniel Bamaiyi received the award on behalf of his teammates at the Cairo International Stadium on Saturday night.

Newly crowned champions the Cubs of Senegal scooped all the other awards.

The Flying Eagles will now shift focus to the 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup to be hosted by Indonesia in May.
