Nigeria Elections 2023: INEC Officials Not Available – Residents

Most Nigerians in the country have come out to cast their vote for the presidential and National Assembly polls on Saturday morning, but discovered that officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission are yet to arrive at the various polling units in the area.

Some of the affected areas are: Lekki, Ajegunle, Asaba in Delta State and others.

In Delta State vocational center Asaba II, Oshimili South LGA No a resident said who spoke with our correspondent said,  ”INEC official in sight at this location up until now.”

Another resident in Oshimi south LGA, Cabinet Junction, Asaba also said, ”We got to the polling unit only to fins the gates locked and security officials refusing to open the gates. INEC officials and party agents had to carry us around looking for another place to carry out voting exercise.”

In Lekki, a resident at Jakande who was at his polling unit said only one INEC official was available as at 7am he arrived in the morning.

In Agungi area of Lekki, only two polling units, PU 025 and PU 027, had INEC officials present as at 11am.

Another residents Comfort, said, ” There are no INEC officials available. We have been waiting here since 8am. There’s no sign on election holding here, except the plenty people here.”

In some areas where INEC officials are available, there are reports that they arrived late just arrived late. An example is Baale street boundary Ajegunle Lagos. The INEC official arrived at 11:07am.

Voting also commenced in Ward B polling unit 007, Apata steet house 99, Shomolu, Lagos.
