New Barcelona coach, Xavi Hernandez has made some comments after he was appointed as the new head coach of the club on Monday at Camp Nou.

The 41-year-old Barca great signed his contract, which runs until 2024, on the pitch alongside club president Joan Laporta.

After introducing himself and his new coaching team to the squad, he took charge of his duties as head coach for the first time at Barcelona on Tuesday.

One significant thing Xavi said during his presentation at Camp Nou on Monday, was that he intends to impose rules, regulations and discipline within the squad in order to compete at the highest level.

Another notable activity that occurred was the calling in of players into the Ciutat Esportiva earlier than normal, at 9:00 CET, with Joan Laporta to see the new coach.

While speaking to supporters of the great club, Laporta also shared his views concerning the new development in the club.

He said, “It’s a historical day for Barcelona. Welcome, Xavi,”

“Thank you all. I don’t want to get emotional but I am, I feel goosebumps,” Xavi told the fans

“This is the biggest club in the world and I’m going to work hard to reach your expectations. Barcelona can’t accept a draw or a defeat. We have to win all the games.”

In the words of Xavi, “I come prepared. My DNA didn’t change. We need to take charge, have the ball, create opportunities, be intense. We have a mission to rescue many things that were lost,”

As Xavi is expected to bring positive change to the club at the moment, Barca are ninth in La Liga.
