Ukrainian President, Volodymyr Zelensky has appreciated the country’s men football team after beating Scotland 3-1 on Wednesday, in the World Cup qualifiers.

With such feat, the war-torn country, is just one game away from qualifying for the World Cup, which is scheduled to take place in Qatar from 21 November to 18 December 2022.

The national of Ukraine will make it to the tournament in Qatar, only If they can beat Wales in Cardiff on Sunday.

In appreciation for the win Zelensky in an Instagram post wrote, “There are times when you don’t need many words! Pride is enough! Simply thanks to you guys!”

He also expressed the spirit of patriotism and belief in his country. “We are all fighting, everyone on their own front, for this. For our blue and yellow flag, for our coat of arms on our hearts, for ‘Ukraine is not dead yet…’, which cannot be silenced,’” he wrote.

Prior to the match which was scheduled to take place in March, there was a delay due to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

Meanwhile, there have been concerns on the safety of the country’s national team due to the war. This prompted the squad to camp in Slovenia on May 1 to prepare for the game.
