Wike Renames Abuja International Conference Centre After Tinubu
Abuja, Nigeria – The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has officially renamed the Abuja International Conference Centre (ICC) as the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre, in honour of the Nigerian President.
The renaming was announced on Tuesday during the inauguration of the newly rehabilitated ICC in Abuja. Wike also revealed that other prominent sections of the facility have been named after top government officials, including Vice President Kashim Shettima, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas, and Chief Justice of Nigeria Olukayode Ariwoola Kekere-Ekun.
Speaking at the event, Wike attributed the timely completion of the renovation to President Tinubu’s leadership, saying:
> “Within eight months, Mr. President, this is what we have. And I agree that without your leadership, it wouldn’t have been possible.”
The Minister added that the use of the Conference Centre by ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs) will now attract charges to ensure effective maintenance and sustainability of the facility.
The ICC, located in the heart of the Federal Capital Territory, is a premier venue for national and international events, and its renovation is part of broader infrastructure upgrades under the current administration.
