WAFCON 2026: Madugu Targets Real Sociedad Forward for Super Falcons
Abuja, Nigeria — As preparations intensify for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco, Super Falcons head coach Justin Madugu has identified Real Sociedad forward Edna Imade as a potential addition to the national squad.
Imade, who is also eligible to represent Spain, has impressed in the Spanish Primera División Femenina, catching the attention of Madugu and the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).
According to the coach, the federation has made several attempts to reach out to the striker, but she has not yet committed to playing for Nigeria.
Madugu, who has continued to scout for overseas-based talents to bolster the Super Falcons ahead of next year’s continental championship, said he remains optimistic that Imade will eventually pledge her international future to Nigeria.
