A peaceful protest has been staged against hike in tuition fee and other issues on Monday, by Students of the University of Abuja, at the entrance of the school.
The students have attributed the reason for their protest to the closure of the portal meant for the payment of school fees, The Punch reports.
The students, while pretesting demonstrated with placards that have different inscriptions on them.
Amid the second wave of COVID-19 in Nigeria, they had their masks on, but social distancing was disregarded.
Their protest also went gone beyond the physical to the social media as one Twitter user said the students are “protesting against the closure of school fees portal and 5k payment for late registration of courses.”
@mayorkheengz who also chatted about hike in school fees tweeted: “End school fees hike! We cannot pay over 100 per cent increase. The University of Abuja is a federal university. ETF is building the school. What is the increment for?”
