Chelsea have recorded 1-0 victory against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League last 16 first leg in Bucharest.

Talented Blues player, Olivier Giroud did not only display class in the match, but scored the only goal with an overhead kick.

After the win, the new Blues manager Thomas Tuchel continued his unbeaten start at Chelsea and has also put them in pole position to reach the quarter-finals.

UEFA decided to adhere to Covid-19 restrictions in the match played in Romania instead of Spain.

Atletico keeper, Jan Oblak could not stop Giroud’s goal which came in the 68th minute with an acrobatic display.

The goal was originally ruled out for offside before a video assistant referee review revealed the ball had bounced off Atletico defender Mario Hermoso.

Since Tuchel succeeded Frank Lampard, Chelsea have now gone eight matches unbeaten. Giroud’s performance has also been very helpful to Chelsea after becoming the Blue’s Champions League talisman.

So far, he has scored all four goals in the group-phase victory against Sevilla and a last-minute winner away to Rennes.
