A Lagos based lawyer and Senior Advocate of Nigeria Femi Falana has criticised the constitution amendment exercise by the federal lawmakers describing the process as self-serving.
According to him, the alteration made will not in anyway serve the interest of the majority of Nigerians.
He insists, a new constitution is what Nigeria needs.
In another development, the recurring issue of Internal Democracy within political parties in Nigeria took centre stage, as representatives of political parties met in Abuja to review their performance in the last two years.
Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Mahmood Yakubu, former Vice President Atiku Abubarka and other speakers called for a cultural shift to entrench a sustained process of respect for laws in these political parties.
