Eight women and 22 children believed to be wives of Boko Haram insurgents were on Wenesday intercepted by Nigeria troops.

A statement issued by Brig.-Gen. Sani Usman, the Army Spokesman, said that the 30 escaped from the hideouts of their husbands and fathers but were intercepted  at Gujba Local Government Area of Yobe.

“On preliminary interrogation, the suspects claimed to have escaped from Boko Haram terrorists’ custody at Kafa and Abagajiri villages in Damboa Local Government Area of Borno,’’ he said.
