The Acting President Yemi Osinbajo has approved the release of one 
point six billionN1.6 billion  for emergency relief to 16 states of the federation affected by floods.
Special adviser to the president on Media and Publicity Femi Adesina announced the intervention while briefing newsmen at state house Abuja.
In another development, the senate has given a one-week-ultimatum to agencies and parastatals who are yet to submit their budget proposal to do so through the relevant committees. 
This followed a point of order raised by senate majority leader, Ahmed Lawal who accused  several government agencies of carrying out extra budgetary spending without approval. 
The senate insists that the budgets of these agencies must be passed before it proceeds on annual recess.‎
