President Muhammadu Buhari has sent the names of 28 nominees for confirmation as Resident Electoral Commissioners (RECS) of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to the senate.
President Buhari made the request in a letter dated February 27 and sent to the senate by the then acting President Yemi Osinbajo. But the letter was read by the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, in Thursday’s plenary.
In the letter, some of the recs were re-nominated despite the expiration of their tenure.
Meanwhile, Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose has faulted the composition of the constitutional and electoral review committee set up the by the Federal Government.
He made his position known at the Southwest public hearing organised by the electoral and constitution review committee.
Governor Fayose who was represented by Dr. Babajide Omotosho noted that there was no moral justification for Senator Ken Nnamani who is a leader of the APC in the Southeast to head the committee.
