The senate has referred its President, Bukola Saraki and Dino Melaye to the Committee on Ethics and Privileges.
Dr. Saraki will face the panel over the alleged importation of a vehicle with fake documents while Melaye will be probed over a fake university certificate.
The former senate leader Ali Ndume said both cases have subjected the senate to ridicule.
Meanwhile Senator Dino Melaye has accepted any form of investigation by the ethics and privileges committee to determine whether or not he obtained his first degree at the Ahmadu Bello University.
Speaking to newsmen after Tuesday’s plenary, Melaye accused the former leader of the senate, Ali Ndume, who raised the motion for the investigation as being a Boko Haram apologist and plotting to tarnish his image.
As a member of the ethics committee, Senator Melaye promised to excuse himself from the investigation, assuring that he will step down his membership pending the outcome of the investigation.
