Thousands of people have staged anti government protests in some major cities across the country amid tight security.

Our correspondents who monitored the rally at the National Stadium in Lagos where protesters carried placards  criticizing several government policies.
 
But in Abuja anti government protesters were mirrored by pro government protesters.

In Ibadan, the oyo state capital  hundreds of protesters demanded a reduction in the cost of governance .
 
They also want the enactment of a law which will compel all public office holders to be treated in  Nigerian hospitals instead of overseas.
 
The protest which was organised by the "Oyo Voice" began from the University of Ibadan and ended at Bodija Market.
 
But in  Rivers State the police  stopped the anti government protests in Port Harcourt.
 
Heavily armed policemen cordoned off the Isaac Boro Park and other strategic points where the protesters had planned to converge
