The Supreme Court today declined to sack Governors Ben Ayade of Cross River State and Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto State.
The apex court instead ordered the re-trial of the suit against Governor Tambulwa while it dismissed the suit against Governor Ayade for lack of merit.
Two governorship aspirants of the All Progressive Congress, Umaru Dahiru and Aliyu Sanyinna, had approached  the Supreme Court to determine whether the incumbent governor was nominated in compliance with provisions of the electoral act  and the APC guidelines for the nomination of candidates for elective offices.
In the case of Cross River State, the five-member panel of the Apex Court dismissed an appeal by a chieftain of the party, Joe Agi, challenging the eligibility of the governor to contest the primary.
