Nigerian Communications Commission has suspended the planned increase in the price of data in the country.

A statement signed by the Director of Public Affairs of the Commission, Tony Ojobo, said the plan is suspended pending the conclusion of study to determine retail prices for broadband and data services.

According to the statement, the price floor is not an increase in price but a regulatory safeguard to check anti-competitive practices by dominant operators.

NCC says that as a responsive agency of government, it is taking into consideration the feelings of the consumers and so decided to suspend the new price floor.
