Following the declaration of Jimoh Ibrahim as the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the Ondo governorship election, there have been huge protests in the state.
Reports showed that protesters blocked of major roads in Akure, the state capital, Owo, Ondo and Ore towns and lit up bonfires.
The protest began at about 6;30 am in Akure and major roads like Oyemekun, Oba Adesida, Arakale, Araromi among others were barricaded halting vehicular movement.

However the State Police Command said it is control of the situation to protect lives and properties.

Jimoh Ibrahim belongs to the Ali Modu Sheriff faction of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

The faction sought court injuction to validate the candidacy of Ibrahim, foloowing the emergence of Eyitayo Jegede by another faction in Ondo.
