Civil servants in Ogun State are on an indefinite strike over non-remittance of over 12 months deductions from workers’ salaries. The action began yesterday and has paralyzed government activities.
The development followed directive by the Joint National Public Negotiating Council ,issued on Monday.
Reacting to the workers action, the state Governor Ibikunle Amosun said it was irritating to see workers pressing for a strike given the public knowledge of the financial status of the state.
He said despite the nationwide financial challenges, his administration remained a leading state in the payment of salaries and welfare of workers.
‘We all know this, yet some are not using their brains. They don’t have brains and they don’t know what they are doing,” he said.
“They don’t have sense. I cannot give what I don’t have. Teachers alone collect N2 billion monthly.”
