Former Military President, General Ibrahim Babangida, has described the recent release of 21 chibok girls as a signal of hope for the nation.
 
General Babangida, who rejoiced with the families, people of Nigeria and the Federal Government over  the release of  the chibok girls, said their release was an indication that President Muhammadu Buhari’s government was committed to ensuring the safe release of all the abducted girls.
 
The former military president reaffirmed his belief in the capability of the Nigerian Armed Forces and other security agencies to ensure an end was put to the activities of the Boko Haram sect.

The girls were released to the Department of State Service on Thursday and were handed over to their parents at the Thanksgiving service in Abuja on Sunday.

The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed has also said that government is making frantic effort to ensure that more of the over 200 girls are released.

It took the intervention of the Internatonal organisations like Red Cross and Swiss Government to secure the release of the girls.
