The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has extended the tenure of Ahmed Makarfi-led caretaker committee for one year.
The extension was effected through vote of confidence by the national delegates at the party’s secretariat in Port Harcourt, the River State capital.
This is coming after the unresolved legal tussle over the party’s leadership, and the sealing off the planned convention venue in Port Harcourt.
The police say their action is justified. According to Rivers State Police Commissioner, Mr. Francis Odesanya, the police did not seal off the convention venue of PDP but was only providing security.
Odesanya explained that by his action, he was only complying with a court order, even as he said that he was not in a position to interpret court judgement.
Two Federal High Courts in Abuja and Port harcourt had given conflicting positions on the PDP national convention that was to hold today.
