A Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered the Ahmed Makarfi-led faction of the Peoples Democratic Party not to go ahead with the planned national convention of the party slated for Thursday in Port-Harcourt, Rivers State.‎

Presiding Judge, Justice Okon Abang, who gave the order, noted that the interim order would expire after the motion filed by the Ali Modu Sheriff-led faction of the party has been determined.

The judge made the order after joining Makarfi and six other members of his caretaker committee as parties to the substantive suit filed last month by the sheriff and members of his faction.

The party Board of Trustees's Reconciliation Panel last week  settled the grievances between the two factional leaders but wanted the convention to hold as scheduled.

The panel conceded tthe chairmanship position to Sheriff but added that both factional leaders would have to oversee the convention.

As at Monday,Modu Sheriff said that he was not aware of any convention being organised by PDP.
