Speaker of the House of Representatives Yakubu Dogara has denied reports suggesting that he could not be investigated or prosecuted over the budget padding scandal.
He also said reports credited to him that padding was no offence under the law were untrue.
An official statement in Abuja said Mr. Dogara's position on the issue is that padding is a strange phenomenon to the budget and nothing untoward was done by the house and indeed the National Assembly with respect to the 2016 budget.
An online publication had reported the speaker to have said that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission could not investigate him on the alleged budget padding.
The former Chairman of the house Appropriation Committee, Abdulmumin Jibrin had accused Dogara and three other principal offcers of padding the budget.
Just at the weekend, Jibrin wrote a letter to the National Chairman of the All Progressive Party, APC, Chief Odigie Oyegun, revealing more alleged atrocities that the speaker had committed.
