Vehicular movements was disrupted in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital following the protest by the students of the state owned Niger Delta University.

The students were protesting the prolong negotiations between the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU and the Bayelsa State Government, who has failed to pay lecturers’ salaries for over five months.
The students started the peaceful protest from Tombia roundabout but were abruptly stopped at Onopa by security operatives as they tried to reach the government house.
The State Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Jonathan Obuebite, accused the opposition of instigating the protest to cause insecurity and a breakdown of law and order in the state.
