The Peoples’ Democratic Party has adopted a zoning arrangement ahead of the party’s national convention in port harcourt, Rivers State.

The zoning arrangement, which had generated controversy within the party in recent months, was finally endorsed at an emergency meeting of the party’s National Executive Committee in Abuja.

The position of national chairman has now been zoned to North-East, while the National Secretary and National Publicity secretary, were both zoned to the south-west.

The party's national chairman, Ali Modu Sheriff, who is from the North East, declined to confirm if he will run for the office at the convention.
