Rio Olympics: Nigeria's Olympic Team Now Open Camp Saturday

The general secretary of NFF, Mohammed Sanusi, has declared that the country’s Olympic team will open training camp on Saturday.

The Dream Team VI were billed to resume camp on Monday, but the team's break was extended.

The draw for the Olympic football event holds on April 14.


Nigeria's Falcons Pick 9 Foreign Pros For Senegal Clash

Nigeria’s Super Falcons, have named nine overseas-based pros including Arsenal Ladies star Asisat Oshoala and France-based striker Desire Oparanozie.

Other pros for the trip to Dakar are Onome Ebi (Belarus), Josephine Chukwunonye, Ngozi Okobi, Rita Chikwelu (Sweden), Evelyn Nwabuoku (Kazakhstan), Francisca Ordega (USA) and Ebere Orji (Hungary).

Senegal host the Falcons on Dakar on Friday with the return leg in Abuja on Tuesday.

The overall winners will advance to the 2016 African Women’s Championship in Cameroon in November.


NFF Clear Outstanding Bonuses For Players

The Nigeria Football Federation have cleared all outstanding bonuses to the Super Eagles.

Nigerian sports minister Solomon Dalung said he has received assurances from the NFF leadership that all outstanding bonuses to the players were cleared on Monday.

However, he said he has tasked the NFF to also pay off team officials.


MFM FC Get New Team Bus, Cash After Cup Triumph

The general overseer of Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries Daniel Olukoya has rewarded the football club with a new team bus and cash after they won the 2016 Lagos State Federation Cup.

It was a warm reception for ‘The Olukoya Boys’ as they presented the F.A Cup trophy to the number one supporter of the team in an unscheduled visit to his office facilitated by the club chairman, Godwin Enakhena.‎

Prior to the final of the F.A Cup, Olukoya had promised that a surprise awaited the team should they emerge victorious.


ITTF African Junior Championship: Team Nigeria Arrive Algiers

Team Nigeria six-man contingent arrived Algiers on Tuesday for the 2016 ITTF African Junior Championship.

The team made up of three boys – Amadi Omeh, Azeez Solanke and Abayomi Animasahun as well as Tosin Oribamise, Ajoke Ojomu and Nimota Aregbesola were received at the Algiers Airport by the organisers.

The top three teams in the boys and girls events will join host – South Africa for places in the 2016 ITTF World Junior Championship holding in Pretoria come November.


Nigeria, Egypt Renew Rivalry At Juniors

The rivalry at the senior level between Nigeria and Egypt will again be ignited at the 2016 ITTF African Junior and Cadet Championship holding in Algiers from today to the 12th of April.

In the draw conducted on Tuesday, Nigeria have been drawn against Egypt in the boys and girls events while host – Algeria will battle against Congo Brazzaville and South Africa in the second group.

For the girls’ grouping, Nigeria will again battle Egypt as well as Tunisia in Group A while Algeria will take on Congo Brazzaville, South Africa and Angola.

Matches will commence today with Nigeria facing Egypt in the boys and girls event on the first day, while Algeria will battle Morocco and South Africa.



Nigeria Premier League: Ilechukwu Targets Enugu Ranger’s Scalp

Head Coach of MFM Football Club, Fidelis Ilechukwu has vowed that his lads will subdue Enugu Rangers in today’s match day 10 of the Nigeria Professional Football League.

The reigning Lagos State F.A Cup champion will host table-toppers, at the Agege Stadium in a midweek match.

Ilechukwu told MFM FC Media that the game against the Enugu-based team is going to be a tough tie but he remains optimistic of the three maximum points.

The Olukoya Boys occupy the 6th spot on the NPFL table with 15 points from 9 league matches while the visitors sit in first position with 17 points from the same number of games.


Fourth Okpekpe Road Race: Kenya, Ethiopia, Eritrea And Others Are Ready

As many as eight countries will participate in next month's fourth Okpekpe international 10km road race in Okpekpe, Auchi in Edo state.

Kenya, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Israel, Uganda, Morocco, Bahrain and Nigeria will participate in the IAAF Bronze label race scheduled for the seventh of next month.

The Okpekpe international 10km road race is the only IAAF label road race in West Africa and one of only two in Africa this year.


Metro Pro League Season Two Kicks Off Thursday

The 2015/2016 Lagos Metro Pro League will kick off on Thursday with Nath Boys Football Club taking on debutant Pepsi Football Academy at the Agege Stadium at 4pm.

Metro Pro League CEO Victor Akinyooye, disclosed that six clubs have been registered to participate this season and they would play 15 rounds, with each team playing every other team three times.

Akinyooye added that the famous Agege Stadium and Children International School, Lekki will play as host to the league matches.

Meanwhile, League management has taken delivery of branded balls for matches this season.


UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE: Vidal Gives Bayern Slim Lead As Suarez Hit A Brace At Camp Nou

 Arturo Vidal gave Bayern Munich a slender 1-0 win over Benfica in their Champions League quarterfinal at the Allianz Arena.

Bayern produced an off-key display and their fifth straight appearance in the Champions League semifinals is far from assured.

At Camp Nou, Atletico Madrid were left to rue Fernando Torres's first-half red card as Luis Suarez's double handed Barcelona a 2-1 win heading into the second leg of their Champions League quarterfinal.

The sides will meet in the return leg on the 13th of April at Atletico's Vicente Calderon.

In today’s fixtures PSG will host Manchester City while Real Madrid travels to Germany for a date with Wolfsburg.
