Theatre practitioners have urged government to formulate better regulations and provide necessary infrastructure to enhance productivity in the sector. 

They made this known during a four-hour theatre festival to mark this year's world theatre day in Abeokuta, Ogun State capital.

In March1961, International Theatre Institute initiated World Theatre day, since then it has become an annual event, world over 

In Abeokuta, the state chapter of National Association of Nigerian Theatre Arts Practitioners in collaboration with the government set the stage for some dramatic actions creating reflective thought in the audience that theatre is life

Acccording to State Chairman, NANTAP, Yinka Ola-Willams, there is need for paradigm shift to creative art, as one of the new alternative of economy regimes to solve the nation's many financial pitfalls  

To Tunde Kileni a film director, government must come up with quality regulations to drive theatre and its practice.

He says theatre remains an important tool for community sensitization and mobilization, calling  on practitioners to come together to curb various shortcomings affecting the arts in Nigeria.
