Disturbed by public uproar over allegation of sexual harassment against a teacher, Mr. Olaseni Oshifala of Queens College Yaba Lagos, the Federal Government has set up a probe panel to look into the matter.

In a statement by the Federal Ministry of Education (FMoE), signed by Deputy Director of Press Bem Goong, government has constituted a probe panel with two-week ultimatum to come up with report on the alleged scandal.

A mother who identified herself as Chinenye Okoye had alleged that her daughter, a Senior Secondary II student was sexually harassed by the teacher and that all effort to get the matter investigated was turned down by the school management.

However, the statement assured the public that the government would get into the root of the matter while calling on parents and guardians who have children and wards in unity schools not to panic.

According to the statement, which quoted the Minister of State for Education, Prof Anthony Anwukah, children who are in Unity Schools and other Federal Government Colleges are in safe hands.

The government will continue to do everything within the law to protect children in its schools nationwide, including Queen’s College.
