Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Ben Murray-Bruce representing Bayelsa East has vehemently opposed the plan by the Federal Government to import grass from Brazil to feed cattle in Nigeria.
He took to his twitter handle on Monday to condemn the pronouncement of the Minister of Agriculture, Chief Audu Ogbe over the clash between herdsmen and farmers in Agatu area of Benue State.
Ogbe had said that one of the ways to stop the regular killings by the herdsmen is by establishing pastures across the geopolitical zones to feed the cattle instead of the animals wandering the country in search of grass.
The minister said that the government would be importing grass from Brazil, despite that Nigeria is a tropical land where grass grows year round.
In his campaign for “Made in Nigeria” product, Ben Bruce said it was not proper for a government that wanted to grow its currency and invariably its economy to be thinking of importing grass.
“There is grass everywhere in Nigeria”, he said.
