Workers of Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC have shut the establishment as they halted business activities to protest the unbundling policy of the Federal Government.

The workers, under the aegis of the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) and the National Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG), bemoaned the decision of the government to unbundle NNPC without carrying them along.

Silverbirdtv Online early reported that the workers were panic about losing their jobs when the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu announced the splitting of NNPC to seven units on Tuesday.
Investigation revealed that the workers refused to resume at their duty posts on Wednesday as they gathered in groups to discuss the new structure and their future with the corporation.
