The Residents of Stillwaters Gardens Lekki have debunked the news making round the social media that they have agreed with Lekki Concession Company LCC to build a road across their gate.

Speaking, the Chairman of the Stillwater Gardens Residents Association, Billy Okoye said there was no meeting where the residents agreed with LCC to build the road.

He said, “There is no way the estate can allow the construction to take place, going by the environmental damage it will cause in the area.”
He reiterated the determination of the residents to stop the road so as to prevent the disaster in the nearest future.

In the meantime, the association has called relevant authorities, which include Lagos State Government to wade into the matter.
The association also threatened that it might take legal action to stop LCC from going on with the construction.

As Okoye put it, “We intend to appeal to LCC  to see the fallacy of this project in one hand, secondly we believe we have to use the court to show them that there is infringement on our fundamental human rights. We will get in touch with the Governor of Lagos State, Akinwunmi Ambode and it’s almost certain when he hears about this, he will be extremely disappointed about what LCC is trying to do”
