President of the Senate, Dr. Bukola Saraki has called on oil marketers and his colleagues in the National Assembly not to politicize fuel scarcity, saying it is one issue that affects the people of Nigeria.
Saraki said this during the senate plenary session on Tuesday, adding, “Senators should not politicize fuel scarcity as it one issue that affects the people of Nigeria.
The lawmakers deliberated on how the scarcity could be subsided as they contemplated on whether to invite the Minister of State for Petroleum, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu to give details of plan to address fuel scarcity.
The Senate also urged NNPC and other stakeholders to continue to stem the tide of the ongoing fuel scarcity while looking for lasting solutions
In the meantime, the lawmakers resolved to mandate its committee on Petroleum Downstream to examine the current fuel scarcity and report back in two weeks.
