If you are looking to name one of the cleanest separations ever recorded in the Nigeria music industry between artiste and record label, then Skales should easily come to mind.
He left EME after 5 years moving on to set up his own label, Baseline Music in 2014. Unlike his counterparts Brymo and Wizkid whose transitions to music independence was well reported in the media, Skales left EME as silent as a ghost.
The Kaduna born singer has all this while not been too open to discuss this decision, now he tells our correspondent, it's one of the best decisions he's ever made. "It was the right moment and I thank God I took it. I thank God for blessing me anew. My music is now everywhere and fans are loving it, that's very special to me."
Prior to Skales exit from EME, his career had been too quiet for comfort. Now, Skales is selling fast. His single "Oya shake body" shut down clubs.
"I don't like to say this but it's true my music matured after I stated on my own. Interestingly, I am glad i got the kind of support i got from Banky W even after leaving EME. We still remain one bog happy family"
