Former Assistant Coach of the 2013 Victorious Golden Eaglets, Nduka Ugbade is optimistic that the present squad at the ongoing FIFA under-17 World Cup in Chile can repeat the same feat like the 2013 squad.
Ugbade and Amuneke were assistants to Manu Garba in 2013 at the same championship, and the former Eaglets assistant coach is optimistic qualification from the group will put the team in good stead for a place in the semis and final in Chile.
He said this while reacting to the good start of the Golden Eaglets after Saturday’s 2-0 win against the USA urging the team to step up their games, especially in the attack.
The Eaglets lost many scoring chances in the match against USA and Ugbade said that they should not allow that to repeat itself as the team faces host country Chile on Tuesday.
It took Amuneke’s side two second half goals from Chukwudi Agor and Victor Osimhen to secure the group’s only win; Chile drew 1-1 with Croatia.
