The Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki has awarded N1million scholarship to two first class students of Law from the University of Ilorin.

He presented the money to the beneficiaries at his Ilofa GRA residence in Ilorin, describing the gesture as the fulfilment of his electioneering campaign promises to give his pension as former governor of Kwara state as scholarship to exceptionally brilliant and indigent students.

The two beneficiaries are Mohammed Abdullahi Tosin from Irepodun local government and Adam Mohammed Ndakuku from Edu local government area of Kwara state.

“During the campaign season earlier this year, I promised Kwara indigenes that I would be channelling my pension from my time as the Governor of Kwara into a scholarship fund for brilliant and indigent students from our state.

Tagged the Abubakar Bukola Saraki Pension Scholarship Fund, the Senate President said it became necessary to support the existing State Scholarship Program, as the government alone could not effectively take care of all our people’s needs.

“Today, Mohammed Abdullahi Tosin from Irepodun L.G.A and Adam Mohammed Ndakuku from Edu L.G.A who both made first class in Law, from a world-rated University like our own University of Ilorin, received N500,000 each to fund their Law School programme.

It is my hope that Tosin and Adam continue to work hard at the Nigerian Law School, and make our great state proud as they move forward.
According to Saraki, the scholarship was to assist the beneficiaries fund their training at the Nigerian Law School.
