Abuja – The National Association of Nigerian Students have allegedly threatened to embark on a strike over unpaid lecturer salaries in Osun, newsmen reported.

According to the organisation, the Osun State Government has refused to negotiate with the lecturers in tertiary institutions owned by the state.

The Chairman of NANS Joint Campus Committee, Lukman Adekitan, has stated that students can't keep silent about the matter as this issue has forced them out of school for many weeks.

The students have advised that it is all up to the government to start negotiating or they will hit the streets again.

Government is said to be owing lecturers from different universities in the state salaries of more than six months.

Students have appealed to lecturers to follow up on negotiations so that the interests of Nigerian students can be put into consideration.
