The Silverbird Man Of The Year 2014 was held at the Eko Hotel convention hall, Lagos on the night of Sunday May 3, 2015 with Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan taking home the biggest honor of the night.
Other award recipients include Chief Gani Fawehinmi, Alhaji Ibrahim Waziri and Dr. Sam Mbakwe who were honored with the Silverbird Post Humous Awards which were received by their children and family members.
Alhaji Maitama Sule, Dr. Philip Asiodu, Dr. Gamaliel Onosode were honored with the Silverbird Lifetime Achievement Awards.
For their efforts in fighting back the deadly Ebola disease out of Nigeria, Dr. Benjamin Ohiaeri, Dr. Jide Idris, Dr. Sampson Parker where all handed the Silverbird Special Recognition award.
The major highlight of the night was when the Senator-elect Ben Murray Bruce introduced what he tagged as the future of Nigerian automobile industry. Where he drove to the stage a blue and white SUV specially made by KIA motors to not use fuel, water, diesel but just solar and batteries.
In his speech, he mentioned the ned for sustainable growth and development and also a projection of the future of the Nigerian youth and children if nothing is done to address the level of hunger majority of Nigerians are going through.

During the speech as given by Post Humous award recipient ,Sam Mbakwe's daughter she said how she was honored that her father was still being honored for what he believed for Nigeria and she was grateful to stand on the platform created by great men like her father.

To recieve the post humous award for Alhaji Waziri Ibrahim was his daughter, Aisha Umar said she was sure her father was going to be smiling down and being thankful that his philosophy was being upheld.

The legal icon, Chief Gani Fawehinmi recieved a post humous award and his son,Mohammed Fawehinmi when recieving the award gave a very heart pulling speeech about how the legacy of our heroes past is still far from being reached and how he is a direct victim of the failure of the Nigerian system especially poor state of the Health System in Nigeria and how he could have fared better than he is now and went on to give his views on the current state of affairs and how he hopes they should be improved, he butressed the fact that the services the few rich ones in the country go to enjoy abroad are the same ones that all other "developed nations" provide to their citizens and told of how he thought they shpuld see him as he did.
"What happened to the Chibok girls is a disgrace to our country and we can blame the president all we want but the whole country is to blame on this issue, 'We are not united and we should be'."

Senator Florence Ita Giwa gave a speech and said she was impressed with how events like the #SilverbirdManOfTheYear award reminded people that are in office that there is a watchdog in place that watches what the people in office are doing and are recognised and hoped that even as there a new goverment that is about to come to office and is a opposition party, she says, "I think for the sustenance of this democracy it is necessary for us to have a strong opposition."

To celebrate courage,commitment and dedication of the caregivers who saved this country from the scourge of the Ebola crisis. The MD of First Consultants Hospital talked about how the Ebola outbreak affected them,how they lost some of their best hands to the outbreak including Dr Adedevoh and how they had succeded in tackling it using the young doctor that was on stage with him as a testimony to their success.
Most of the reviews on social media had a lot to say about Ben Murray-Bruce's speech and as he said all his life he had always been attracted to public service for the right reasons.
"We look we have no conscience, we have no conscience. What is the qualification to seek public office? A school certificate. What university teaches us about compassion? We must care about the least of us if we don't we pay the ultimate price, destruction. We are a poor country; Nigeria is too rich for our people to be so poor"
