Former Chairman of the Shongom Local Government Area and Commissioner for Culture and Tourism in Gombe State, Bulus Adamu Samuel, has secured bail at the Bauchi Federal High Court where he is facing a number of charges.
He is appearing on a on a four-count charge bordering on conspiracy, forgery, contract scam, misappropriation of public funds, theft and abuse of office.
The accused was first arraigned on Monday last week by for allegedly inflating a contract for the electrification of 17,5 km route covering nine villages in the Shongom Local Government council awarded to Tican Engineering Company Nigeria limited in the sum of N97,64 million.
He has been granted bail in the sum of N5 million with two sureties in like sum. The sureties must be senior officers in Gombe State civil service not below the rank of director who must own a landed property within the state capital, with statutory right of occupancy.
The court adjourned the matter to April 2 for continuation of trial.
