Nigerian-American professional mixed martial artist, Kamaru Usman has promised to come back stronger to win after Leon Edwards beat him in the UFC 278 with a knockout in the fifth-round.
Interestingly, with less than a minute remaining in the fight, the shocking result came after Edwards uncorked a head kick that hit Usman and sent him crashing to the canvas.
Edwards who celebrated with so much joy, became the UFC welterweight champion after defeating Usman.
The defeat for Usman, which ended his title reign, prompted his statement on social media after he was taken to a local hospital for precautionary reasons.
He wrote, “Champs f*** up sometimes,” Usman wrote. “But we bounce back and come with vengeance!!”
The result of the match at the Vivint Arena in Salt Lake City, Utah changed the expectations of some fans especially in the last minute as Usman was ahead on the scorecards as the fight moved into the fifth and final round.
The talented martial artist who started well earlier against Edwards took over with serious attack as landing multiple takedowns, choking his British opponent.
Usman, after suffering the second defeat in his entire career returned to Twitter to offer his congratulations to Edwards on a job well done.
