Two House of Reps Members Defect from PDP, Labour Party to APC
ABUJA — Two members of the House of Representatives have defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Labour Party (LP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
The lawmakers are Peter Akpanke, representing Obanliku/Obudu/Bekwarra Federal Constituency of Cross River State, who dumped the PDP, and Prof. Paul Nnamchi, representing Enugu East/Isi Uzo Federal Constituency of Enugu State, who resigned from the Labour Party.
Akpanke cited a protracted crisis within the PDP that has “defied all solutions” as the reason for his defection. Similarly, Nnamchi attributed his decision to the ongoing leadership tussle in the Labour Party, which he said has stifled internal cohesion and progress.
The development further strengthens the APC’s presence in the National Assembly, as the party continues to attract lawmakers from opposition ranks amid growing political realignments.
